These are paintings
Similar to the work of Mickey Smith, Chinese painter Xiaoze Xie creates extraordinarily detailed paintings from photographs taken at libraries and museums. He paints books located at the actual location of his exhibitions. For instance, photographs from the Moma library are painted large scale and presented at a Moma opening. His work explores the haphazard arrangements of books by librarians and patrons. They almost look like photographs.
