There is Nothing Wrong in This Whole Wide World
I didn’t have a blog back when artist Chris Cobb and about 20 volunteers rearranged the books in San Fransiscos Adobe Book Shop in order of color back on 2005 so forgive me for the late post. These pictures are very inviting and give me a warm & fuzzy feeling, though I think I feel that way with books in general. Last night we bought a bag of books at the Rochambeau Library book sale (Providence, Rhode Island) where my wife is on the board. There’s just something inviting about collections of books, and these rainbow pictures just make you want to jump right in.
A friend of ours has a colleague at Brown who arranged their book collection in order of size. At the time I thought it was crazy, but if you’re a visual person, perhaps an order other than chronological might work for you. In High Fidelity, John Cusacks character Rob Gordon explains the arrangement of his vinyl collection as ordered by life events - disimilar bands near each other because they were on the radio at the same time. That could work. How do you arrange your book collection?
