We’ve been watching the Planet Earth specials on the Discovery Channel on Sunday nights. Our planet is just amazing, isn’t it? Can you believe we’re on the edge of destroying it? These photos may look like undersea creatures, but are in fact used plastic water and soda bottles. Described as PET Project, artist and photographer Miwa Koizumi shapes discarded bottles into fantastical creatures:
I use a combination of heat guns, soldering irons and different cutting utensils to make these PETs. I wanted to work with glass but this is more fun. I have as much material as I want just by fishing in the garbage. PET (polyethylene terephthalate) is highly recyclable can be transformed again and again to un-imagined uses.
