Just look at these beautiful books-as-art sculptural pieces from artist Georgia Russell! They are so amazing. These are books which have been cut, very meticulously, into strips and shreads and carefully arranged into beautiful compositions. This kind of work gets me excited to create myself. There’s just something about particular types of art that sparks the, “I can do that…” feeling which inspires me to create something too.
Georgia Russell is a Scottish artist who uses a scalpel instead of a brush or a pen. She works with obsessive perserverance to create constructions that transform found ephemera, such as books, music scores, maps, newspapers, currency and photographs.
