With all the news about the Heene family balloon shenanigans, how weird that an actual weather balloon landed on our roof today Faye had a playdate over and one of them noticed it hanging off the roof. I propped up our extension ladder, climbed on the roof and found the white, styrofoam business end of the testing equipment and the shredded balloon material. The balloon must have climbed to a high elevation until it popped then floated down to Pawtucket, Rhode Island. The orange plastic in the picture is a parachute of sorts. Ilira is holding up the remaining tied end of the white balloon.
We’re all glad we weren’t out on the roof when it landed. The instructions on the white box note to simply dispose of the box. I was hoping there was a number to call so we could get a visit from the NOAA - National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration - or a university student. Anyway, how random and timely.
Faye’s playdate thinks we have the coolest house now.
